Scientology Volunteers of St. Petersburg say "Something can be done about it"

The Church of Scientology of St. Petersburg is one of the largest and most active communities of Scientologists in the world. On any given weekend Scientology Volunteer Ministers from this church travel to a different town or city in the St. Petersburg and Leningrad region to help people learn about the effective solutions available to them through this volunteer program. That is how they came to set up their bright yellow tent earlier this month right next to the Culture House of the town of Kirovsk.

Public service motivates Scientology Volunteer Ministers

Last week marked the 6th anniversary of United Nations Public Service Day, established to celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community. UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro encouraged "determination and imagination in searching for new approaches to improve the performance of the public sector," in his speech at this event. Scientologists used the opportunity to call on volunteers to match this effort and work in partnership with the public sector to improve the quality of life in their communities.

Free Online Courses are Changing Lives

A recent Gallop poll shows that 47% of Americans are struggling just to get by in life, unable to cope with their problems—an increase of 10% over 2006 figures. It was exactly to help people overcome these kinds of difficulties that the Scientology Volunteer Ministers initiated a program of free online courses that raise ability and self-confidence in more than a dozen important aspects of life.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Eastern European Goodwill Tour Brings Disaster Preparedness to Craiova, Romania

In 2006, Romania was devastated by one of the worst flood seasons in the history of the country. And although there was no loss of life, so many Romanians were affected that it brought home the importance of having well trained emergency response personnel in place.
